Teaching L'Epiphany: 3 Resources for French Language Teachers

L'Epiphany, also known as Three Kings' Day, is a significant cultural and religious holiday celebrated in various French-speaking countries. If you are a French language teacher looking for resources to educate your students about this holiday, you are in the right place! Here are three fantastic resources that can help you create an engaging and informative lesson plan.

French La Galette des Rois - L'Épiphanie Activities/Worksheets

These worksheets include a short presentation in both English and French, comprehension questions in English and French, a research project, a word search, a project on Les fèves, and a fun activity called "Aide Jules à rejoindre la galette." Your students will have a blast learning about this famous French tradition.

L'Épiphanie Scavenger Hunt Webquest

This internet scavenger hunt about La Galette des Rois includes 12 questions in French and an answer key page. This activity can be carried out using the internet in a computer lab, a mobile lab, or students' own electronic devices. It is an excellent way to engage students while they learn about this exciting holiday.

La Galette des Rois - L'Épiphanie - Booklet Activity

This French booklet activity is an excellent hands-on activity for Core French or French Immersion students. It includes a mini booklet with instructions and a key. Your students will enjoy discovering L'Épiphanie and La Galette des Rois while completing this fun and interactive activity.

BONUS ACTIVITY:

Cooking activity: Consider having a cooking activity where students can make their own galette des rois. This will allow students to experience the tradition firsthand and practice their French language skills by following a recipe in French.

Incorporating these additional resources into your lesson plan will help create a more comprehensive and engaging learning experience for your students. They will have the opportunity to learn about the history and cultural significance of L'Epiphany, practice their French language skills, and experience the tradition through a hands-on activity.
